What language skills can be developed with bilingualism?

Let's keep in mind that language has its own skills, these are speaking, listening, writing and reading, apart from these skills, the ability to translate and interpret the meaning of a conversation or text from one language to another is developed. 

How can we process language?

When we talk about bilingualism, we can actively interpret the two languages, we can also identify which is the appropriate language to use according to the required context, we can also have problems with the interpretation of the two languages in the initial process or even in the process of speaking and applying the second language, since we can confuse words or interpret a meaning out of context.

 

We must be careful as we may have advantages and challenges in the face of bilingualism. 

Advantages.

We can have improvements in attention, memory, problem solving, we can have an improvement in communicative and sociocultural processes, knowing another language also increases the chances of getting a better job, having greater personal and professional development.

Challenges.

As mentioned above, we can find ourselves in situations where we can change or confuse words between languages, and we can also forget words from any of the languages. 

What impact does bilingualism have on the future? 

There is a growing tendency to learn a second language, which also means that there may be difficulties and/or inequalities in accessing second language learning. Taking into consideration that we are talking about a purely communicative tool, there will be an improvement in intercultural communication around the world.
